How to Apply

Student should submit one set of the following documents by registered post or courier and one set of digital copies before the deadline.

Student should submit one set of the following documents by registered post or courier and one set of digital copies before the deadline.
(1)The completed Foreigner’s Application Form for Admission to Graduate Programs of Tsinghua University; signed by the applicant (original and duplicated)
(2) Statement of purpose and resume
(3) The original or the notarized degree certificate or proof of education in academic institution, and academic transcript (original and duplicated)
(4) Two academic recommendation letters from scholars of associate professorship or higher; (original and duplicated)
(5) For non-English speaking students, please provide English level certificates. e.g. TOEFL and IELTS
(6) Two copies of the page with personal information in the passport (personal and ordinary passport)
(7) Two copies of applicant’s recent photo (cap-free, 2 inches, stick on the application form)
(8)The completed Application Form for Tsinghua University Scholarship (if applicable, original and duplicated)
(9) Official certificate of financial support of at least USD 20,000 (equivalent) issued by the bank.
The application fee is RMB 600 (non-refundable).
The certificates provided should be the original documents in Chinese or in English, otherwise notarized translations in Chinese or English are required. None of the above application documents will be returned.

Application Schedule

November 1, 2009 to February 28, 2010.
The online application should be completed and the package be received by February 28, 2010.

Admission Process

Step 1: Online Application
Complete Online Application on the website of Foreign Student Affairs Office, Tsinghua University (http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn). Print and sign two hard copies of the Application Form produced by the system after the application status changes to “verified”. Download and complete the Application Form for Tsinghua University Scholarship for future students (if you intend to apply).

Step 2: Document Submission
Submit the application documents listed above to the address indicated below by post mail or in person.

Admission will be made through a competitive selection process.
The Admission Committee will take into consideration of a number of factors in evaluating each applicant’s eligibility and qualification, including but not limited to prior academic performance, professional experience, and contribution to the community. An interview will be conducted in certain circumstances. Those selected for interview can come to the school in person or the school will call the telephone number that is provided in application forms).
All application documents sent via air mail MUST be received by the Office 302, Omnicom Building, School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, 100084 Beijing, China by the application deadline.

Enrollment
The applicants admitted should bring Passport, Admission Letter, Visa Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China, Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Record to the embassy and consulates of the People Republic of China in respective countries and apply for an “X” visa. Students must register before the deadline at the International Students Affairs Office and get the Residence Permit within 30 days after they enter China.

Fees
Tuition fee for 2010 Entry is RMB 30,000 per year.
Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Insurance: RMB 600/year.

Scholarship
International students are encouraged to explore all financial aids and scholarships available to them in their home country.
International students are eligible to apply for a variety of scholarships and internships with funding from the Chinese Government, Beijing Municipal Government, Global Sources Ltd, etc. Students are also encouraged to apply for scholarship offered by their home country organizations. The information about Chinese Government Scholarship, Beijing Government Scholarship, and Tsinghua University Scholarship is available at http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn
Further more, all enrolled international students are eligible to apply for several kinds of merit-based scholarships and internships after a period of study at Tsinghua.
